Privacy Policy for Success Call

Thank you for choosing Success Call (“we,” “us,” “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what leaves your device. It applies to every version of Success Call: Android, iOS, Web and Windows.

In short: Success Call has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. It never accesses your location. It does connect to the internet to download prayer-time data and to receive prayer notifications.

Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information

There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address, phone number or date of birth, and we have no server that stores anything about you.

We do not access your location

Success Call does not request, access or use your device's GPS or location services on any platform.

Prayer times come from a zone you select manually from predefined areas in Sri Lanka (Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya, Mannar and Puttalam districts).
The Qibla compass uses your device's magnetic and motion sensors together with the fixed published coordinates of your selected zone. It does not read your actual position.

Information stored only on your device

Your settings are saved in your device's local app storage and a local database:

Selected prayer zone and data source
Iqamah offsets and prayer-time adjustments
Notification preferences and chosen adhan sound
Display preferences (theme, language, clock style, widget options)
A cached copy of prayer times and Hijri calendar data, so the app works offline

This data stays on your device. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

Information That Leaves Your Device

Success Call is not a fully offline app. Three things involve a network.

1. Prayer-time and calendar data

The app downloads prayer times and Hijri calendar data from our static hosting on GitHub Pages (successcall.github.io).

These are plain file downloads — the app sends no personal data. As with any website, the hosting provider (GitHub) automatically processes your IP address in its standard server logs to deliver the file. We do not receive, store or have access to those logs.

2. Connectivity check

Before deciding how to deliver a prayer notification, the app makes a lightweight request to one.one.one.one (a public Cloudflare endpoint) purely to test whether an internet connection exists. No data about you is sent; Cloudflare processes your IP address as it would for any request.

3. Prayer notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging)

Android and iOS only.

To deliver prayer-time notifications reliably, the app uses Google Firebase Cloud Messaging. This involves:

A device registration token generated by Google, which identifies your app installation so a notification can reach it. It is not linked to your identity.
A topic subscription matching your selected prayer zone (for example newZones_Zone4), so your device receives alerts for the right zone. This tells our messaging provider which zone you chose, but nothing about who you are.

The token is deleted when you uninstall the app. Firebase's handling of this data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, advertising or any other tracking service.

Permissions by Platform

Only the permissions relevant to your platform are ever requested, and features a platform cannot support are hidden rather than shown as broken options.

The optional permissions are only requested if you turn on the feature that needs them, and the app works without them.

iOS

iOS does not ask for location, and the app cannot change your ringer, Do Not Disturb or Focus mode — Apple provides no such capability to apps, so the Silent Mode feature does not exist in the iOS version.

Web

The web version stores preferences in your browser's local storage. It does not send notifications and does not use cookies or trackers.

Windows

The Windows version stores preferences locally and shows notifications through the Windows notification system. It does not use Firebase.

Sensors

The Qibla compass reads your device's magnetometer and accelerometer to work out which way the device is pointing. Sensor readings are used momentarily on your device to draw the compass and are never recorded or transmitted.

Children's Privacy

Success Call is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13, and there are no accounts, messaging features or user-generated content.

Data Security and Retention

Preferences and cached prayer data are stored in your device's app-private storage, protected by your operating system.
We operate no user database, so there is no store of personal data to breach.
Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data and invalidates the notification token.

Your Choices

Turn off notifications in the app or in your system settings at any time. This also stops zone topic subscriptions.
Use the app offline. Once prayer times are cached, the app continues to work and to show alerts without a network connection.
Delete everything by uninstalling the app, or by using Reset App in Settings.

Donations

If the app invites you to support its development, any contribution is made outside the app through the external link provided. We do not process, collect or store payment card details.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with an updated “Last updated” date. Material changes to what data leaves your device will also be noted in the app's release notes.
